General Walk Information

When is the walk?

The Walk will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The Walk staging area will open at 7:15 am and the Walk begins at 8:00 am.

Where is the walk?

The Walk site is under review. It will be DC based. Route maps will be available on Walk Day. Don’t live near by then you can walk in your own town. Make sure you share your pictures with us.

How much is the registration fee?

Adults: $50; Youths 12 and older: $35

Is my registration fee tax-deductible?

No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Walk and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.

What is included in the registration fee?

A Walking Warrior t-shirt, food, music, fun and a great feeling!

How will I receive my t-shirt?

T-shirts will be mailed out approximately one week prior to the walk. Shipping costs are included in your registration fee.

How can I become a volunteer?

The success of the Walk depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Walk and on Walk Day. There are many ways you can get involved. For more information, contact Martha at [email protected].

Are pets allowed at the event?

Pets are not recommended, given the length of the route. However service animals, as needed, are allowed. 

What if it rains?

The walk will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.

Fundraising Information

Are we required to fundraise?

The fundraising requirement is $500. Of course, if you raise more, we applaud you. Just Imagine the IMPACT – if every Walker raised just $500, we would bring in an additional $100,000 to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!

Does the money raised benefit our community?

Yes! Up to 50% of the income from the Walk benefits the National Capital Region (Northern VA, Washington DC and Maryland) to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs. The other 50% goes toward supporting a junior research faculty grant to investigate metastatic breast cancer prevention and treatment.

Is Walking Warriors (WWBBC) a nonprofit?

WWBBC is a Virginia nonprofit corporation. WWBBC is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Federal Employer Tax ID number is 83-1492712.

Where do I send donations?
You can donate online or mail checks to Walking Warriors Battling Breast Cancer, you can also use the abbreviation WWBBC. If the donation is on behalf of an individual participant, please include that information with the check. Please mail checks to:
